In-House Competition

Our tournament experience is a three part process:

  • The training to prepare technically, mentally, and physically
  • The experience of being in the moment
  • The learning and reflection as a response to the experience

All three parts are essential. The in house tournament is an opportunity to experience all 3 parts in the controlled environment of our dojo. Each athlete will be coached during their match with medals and prizes to add to the fun and excitement of competition! We ask and require parents and family not to coach from the side. This helps us coach the athlete and create learning moments before, during, and after the match.

Athletes: PeeWee, Kids & Jr (age 4-17) NoGi only 

Final Schedule will change with participant numbers.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE: 

Group 1
– Doors Open 3:30PM
– 4:00 – 4:45 (weight in & competition)

Group 2
– 5:00-5:45 (weight in & competition)

Group 3
– 6:00 – 6:45 (weight in & competition)
– 7:00 Estimated Finish

FINAL SCHEDULE TBD

(You will receive an email on Wednesday evening,  with competitor start time)

Tournament Outline:

  • Youth competitors will be grouped into groups closest in age, weight and belt division with no more than 4 athletes in each division. The goal is to get each competitor a minimum of 2 matches.
  • Athletes will be weighed once before competition. They must weigh equal-to or less than the weight they enter (enter weight while wearing the competition uniform).

– We will be using IBJJF rules  with some modifications

– Registration: $55 to our 501(c)(3) Athlete Scholarship Program (For each athlete) (please complete payment on or before registration closes on Tuesday, 9/24)

– Competitors will be awarded with a competition medal
