Purple Belt Promotion: Kenny

Purple belt promotion for Kenny.

Kenny has been doing jiujitsu for over two decades. In EDH he has been the person that practices perseverance, patience, and has always sought to understand jiujitsu as a art and expression of himself. He trains with the intent to help himself as well as his training partner improve. Kenny takes the challenges he is given as motivation to progress, improve, and better realize his weakness.

In his journey, he has trained at several different academies depending on his place of work and living, always loyal to his coaches and we are happy to have him in El Dorado Hills. He embraces the journey as an opportunity to better understand himself. Through this, his awareness for others in work, family, and life are exceptional. We appreciate the sense of dedication and commitment he brings to the mat.

Belt Promotion in El Dorado Hills BJJ Kids Martial Arts Class

Gray Black Belt Promotion at EDH BJJ
🛡🥋🛡
Abigail has been training for almost four years in El Dorado Hills Jiu Jitsu.

She was one of the first girls to start training and has been leading the way for the young women who train at our school. More importantly, Abigail is determined, courageous, & intelligent. She doesn’t backdown from challenges and when she is met by adversity, she perseveres with the help of her family, teammates, and coaches.

Abigail is aware of her surroundings, a skill that is considered extremely important in self defense.  For example, the other day, she noticed someone from the younger class needing some coaching. She didn’t hesitate to step in and quickly help the pair of students. It was exactly what a good coach would have done.

EDH BJJ Gray Belt Promotion | Kids Martial Arts

Gray Belt Promotion

Chase earned his gray belt in just under three years of training after he started training with his father at El Dorado Hills Brazilian jiu jitsu.

Chase has a focused mind that pays close attention to detail and doesn’t hesitate to ask questions or stop and think before doing something.

His determined spirit to never give up, along with his technical improvements over time, has led him to where he is now.

We’re excited to see him continue to improve and move up into the junior bjj class in the next year or so!

Purple Belt Promotion at El Dorado Hills Jiu Jitsu

EDH BJJ black belts Sean, Eliot, and Aaron promoted Mat to his purple belt

Congratulations Mathew on earning his Purple Belt! @matheweckhardt serves our community as a full-time firefighter and family man. He does an excellent job of balancing his schedule and life to accommodate for consistent training. In the past year he has excelled in both, traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Only NoGi. His dedication to the Art and the focused presence he brings to class serves as ideal modeling for all the other students at El Dorado Hills Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Mat has overcome the difficulty we all face in life. Finding balance in a constantly changing and traveling boat of life. In his weekly routine, constantly changing as a result of his shift schedule, mat has found the ability to schedule training sessions at least 2 -3 times a week. He is diligent in in drilling and brings a sense of optimism and enthusiasm to each class. Thank you and congrats!

Black Belt Promotion in El Dorado Hills: Sean Gonsolin

Here are some words from Sean after his promotion to black belt. “I was first introduced to BJJ in 2008 by a blue belt neighbor who showed me some BJJ in exchange for me helping him with his boxing. I ended up starting about a year later in late 2009, and started competing 3 months later. I met Allicia when I was a white belt. And we tried to be each other’s training buddy and motivator. The main reason i train Jiu-jitsu is for the self defense application; particularly with regards to controlling and understanding movement and body mechanics. My ultimate goal with BJJ is always longevity, to train for life.”

Black belts in attendance were (from left to right) Eliot Kelly, Julio Veliz, Marcus Boness, Sean Gonsolin, Marcos Torregrosa, Borston Marc, Jerel Tengan.

Spring Belt Promotions

2016Belt Promotionedhjiujitsu (1)

Spring is a  time of change. El Dorado Hills Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will be hosting the 2016 Spring Belt Promotions on Tuesday, March 1st.

Belt promotions are done differently at each school, in EDH we celebrate the occasion by saying a few things about each student when they change belts. Many students overcome many different obstacles and triumphs to earn their belt and the ceremony is an appropriate occasion to share each story.

Along with a new belt comes new challenges. These challenges can only be overcome with the training of a team of people that are willing to help one another. As people change their belts, it’s great to see their friends, training partners, and family who were there with them supporting their training. We hope to see everyone on Tuesday night in their best gi!
