I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and weekend. We’re getting closer to the December 18th Yoga for Jiu Jitsu Workshop that will benefit the clients of My Sister’s House. They are excited about the donation drive tied to this event!
In addition to the suggested wish list items mentioned in the previous post, it would be awesome to collect toys for their upcoming client Christmas Event. New, gender-neutral toys such as games, puzzles, and building sets would really bring joy to the kids of My Sister’s House clients. Just something else to consider.
If you have any questions about the donation effort or the workshop, please ask Eugene at the dojo. Thanks!
Just a few words that come to mind when describing them on and off the mat. Thank you for being leaders and mentoring the next generation of jiujitsu in EDH!
As edh Jiujitsu concludes its 10th year of open doors we are excited to announce our first generation of white belt to brown belt jiujitsu practitioners. Although we’ve had the privilege of celebrating others in their promotion to black belt, this marks the first for the dojo.
Blue belt promotion
Chris started with the 6am crew and had to make some adjustments when his work schedule changed. Along the way he made new friends, but also brought his friends to jiujitsu. It’s clear that he really enjoys both the time he spends with his friends as well as the time he spends on the mat training.
He recently finished a very successful community service project “the Star Jars” where he raised funds to be donated to the Star treatment organization. A non profit organization that gives kids going through chemo treatment a more comfortable ride with games and toys on the tour bus.
Good day, everyone! Eugene will be leading a “Yoga for Jiu Jitsu” workshop on Wednesday, December 18th, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. We will be exploring how the elements of improved mental focus, flexibility, and strength can benefit your BJJ practice. This workshop will be open to ages 10 and up. No Yoga experience is necessary! You may wear No-Gi gear, Gi pants with rash guard, or any comfortable athletic clothing.
This will be donation/fundraising effort. I’ll be collecting necessities (see the wishlist in the photos) and monetary donations to benefit the non-profit organization, My Sister’s House.
My Sister’s House serves Asian/Pacific Islander and other underserved women and children impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking by providing a culturally appropriate and responsive safe haven, job training, and community services.
To attend the workshop, please bring item(s) from the necessities list anytime before the event or on the day of the event. I will have a pink bin at the dojo to collect the items. Cash/check donations will be accepted the day of the workshop. Suggested donation is $10 in goods/cash but anything will help. Can’t attend? No problem! Donations will still be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking!
Bring your kids (or yourself) out on Sunday, 11/24, and together we’ll help them assemble their very own wooden stools. Parts will be pre-cut, so they’ll get to nail it all together and paint it. Then, take it home to enjoy and use!
This event is certainly not limited to kids, adults are more than welcome to put together their own stool kit, as well. Please just comment on your RSVP with the number of kits I should prep for your party, so I can do enough prep work.
Please also feel free to come out and lend emotional support and make some new friends, even if you can’t contribute to the fundraiser. I’m so proud of the community we’ve built in this group, and I’d really love to meet some of you in person!
Thanks so much to BossMan Al at Placerville Public House for letting us host the event at his place in Downtown Placerville. Be sure to stick around and have lunch there, after we’re done, they just updated their kitchen and upgraded their whole menu this week! Thanks also to Abigail Paige for hooking us up on social media to get the word out.
Please let him know if you can make it out for the event! Those that want to contribute, but can’t make it to the event can contribute to the PayPal pool right here: https://paypal.me/pools/c/8iYeZeZriE
If you plan to attend, it’s REALLY important that you RSVP, so I can make enough kids for your kids
Purple belt promotion at el dorado hills jiujitsu!
Gary has been with EDH since day one. He’s had some things slow him down, but he has always found a way to get back on the mat and be consistent.
Consistency means something different for everyone. For someone like Gary, he has had to define and redefine what that means. In doing so he has made jiujitsu, and training a part of a lifestyle in practice.
Brown belt promotion at el dorado hills jiujitsu last week. Allen has been training jiujitsu for a little over 7 years now. He is a leader by example and a great mentor to all of us.
Allan has embraced a fun and competitive approach to jiujitsu. He does a great job varying his intensity with tournament preparation. A student of the game , if he’s not training for a tournament he’s looking to add a new set of skills to his jiujitsu tool belt.
As a master competitor he has won gold as a blue belt and purple belt at the world master championships.
