Event to benefit El Dorado County Sheriff family

Hey everyone! I want to invite you to an awesome community event to help support the family of El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Ishmael.

In the early morning hours of October 23rd, 2019, Deputy Ishmael was shot and killed in the line of duty while serving our community. Deputy Ishmael leaves behind a wife and three young children. In an effort to honor Deputy Ishmael, and support the family he leaves behind, Sierra Vista Winery in Placerville is hosting a 5K Hero Run on April 4th, 2020, at 10am.

I encourage everyone to participate in the event. You can follow the link and sign up under the team name, “El Dorado Hills Brazilian jiu-jitsu.” 100% of the proceeds for the Hero Run will be donated to the family of Deputy Ishmael. Please share this post with friends, family, coworkers or anyone who would be interested in coming out to the event to show their support.

If you are unable to attend the event, still follow the link and you can choose to sign up as a virtual participant, or simply donate funds directly without participating.

This is a great opportunity to serve our community by supporting the family of a man who gave everything to serve his.

Thank you, and I hope to see everyone at the Sierra Vista Winery on April 4th!

6am blue belt promotion in edh jiujitsu

6AM // Black & Blue Friday // Blue belt Promotion

Joey will be presenting a great community event tomorrow in El Dorado Hills for parents and families interested in better understanding how they can help their child at home. Education and academics have changed many times in the last few years and he’s sharing his experiences and expertise as an educator with us.

Joey brings a great attitude to learn and experience training with everyone. It’s great to have someone whose passion as an artist in the training of martial arts because they create experiences for everyone to appreciate and enjoy.

Not only a practitioner but also a competitor, Joey is constantly looking for ways to smooth out his game. He has recently started sharing the art with his family as well and it’s neat to see them all on the mat or in the dojo at the same time!

Belt promotion for Zach in El Dorado Hills

Gray white belt promotion

Zach is a great example of someone who has embraced being coached. He has figured out how to focus on input from his family, teammates, and communicate back with them.

Being coachable is a skill people overlook and take for granted. At higher levels of sport and martial art people will make statements like, “they’re not coachable.” And that’s most likely because they were never taught how to receive input and be coached.

We’re very excited to see him step up to a new challenge on and off the mat!

Masters Jiu Jitsu class in El Dorado Hills (age 40+)

Hey 40+ folks – I’m super excited to be teaching the Masters Class in February! Can’t wait to get started! Some of the key topics that I’ve planned for the class:

**Information exchange – If you’re over 40 you’ve graduated from the school of hard knocks, trial & error. Lets share info and tips about BJJ strategy, recovery and staying on the mat!

**Mobility – We all need to know our bodies better in order to improve in jiu jitsu. I’ll share some mobility drills, balance and movements that have helped improve my jiu jitsu game.

**Injury prevention – Especially shoulders, neck, knees and hips. We will learn ways to take care of these areas so we can keep training.

**Skill improvement – You will learn how to flow roll and some regular drilling of course.

**Rolling – learn how to beat those pesky kids!

What are some of the things that you would like to get out of the class? Let me know in the comments.

Blue belt promotion 6am jiujitsu

Blue belt promotion in El Dorado Hills!

Mike has been a life long martial artist and brings all the elements of someone who understands the values of martial arts to the mat. We’ve enjoyed having him share his passion for the arts along with his avid enthusiasm to learn and develop his skills.

He recently organized a community event that taught the basics of single blade knife self defense. The event organized an opportunity to learn but also raise funds for “Placerville Make things better” and their next project building a ramp for a local resident in Placerville.

Mike is a humble warrior and constantly striving for self improvement. We are excited to see him continue to progress as he makes his way through the blue belt.

Blue belt promotion to Joel

Blue belt promotion ★🛡柔🛡★
Congratulations to Joel on his blue belt promotion! He moved back to the mainland from Hawaii and started training after the influence of his family on the mat. Joel brings a “can do” attitude and loves looking into being his best self both on and off the mat. As a result, he is someone who instills a desire in all of us to be our best even on days when we are not. For his project, he has woven a business networking website for those involved in business at the dojo to connect and collaborate!
